At the beginning of 2026 Kay directed her first professional production, A Castle of Our Own, which premiered on the Hallmark Channel on June 27 2026
With the help of Canadian Council Funding, Kay wrote and directed Split Ends, a very personal short film which looks at a mixed race girl’s relationship to the texture of her hair.
Kay had the pleasure of being one of six filmmakers out of over 150 that were chosen to be a part of the 2022 Crazy8s film festival. Their support helped bring to life Weeds Are Flowers, Too a dark comedy that was inspired by Kay’s fears of adulthood and propensity for jealousy.
Along with acting, Kay is involved with the indie filmmaking scene in Vancouver. She was lucky to be able to direct her first short film, “Mystery Meat” back in 2018.
